Food Technology Valley aims to make Dubai a key hub

The new Food Technology Valley will promote Dubai as a regional food destination and attract global products and leading agricultural and food companies, government officials, experts and analysts say.

The project, launched on Saturday by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Governor of Dubai, will build a modern integrated city that will serve as a hub for future technological food and agricultural products. It will also serve as a catalyst for researchers, entrepreneurs, startups and industry professionals involved in developing powerful solutions to shape the future of the food industry.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai; Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Governor of Dubai and First Deputy Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai; Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Emirates Aviation and Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Group; Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Media Council; Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Mariam **** Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheiri, Minister of State for Food and Water Security; Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Chair of Policies for Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE; and Hesham Abdullah Al Qassim, CEO of Wasl Asset Management Group, attended the event.

Almheiri said the project has a food processing center designed to resemble the head of wheat and will include laboratories, research centers and modeling agricultural programs.

“Located in close proximity to universities and educational institutions, it will support the R&D environmental program and monitor and introduce sustainable food solutions,” he said at the launch of the program.

“We want to embrace and develop the latest innovative agricultural practices and food production, balance water use, accelerate basic food security, and share our successful experiences with countries around the world. This will enable us to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and secure the future of future generations, ”said Almheiri.
